HA NOI – On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index ended its downward spiral by gaining 1.17 per cent to close this morning's session at 396.05 points.
Of the 284 listed codes, 211 managed gains, and nearly half of advancers hit their ceiling prices.
Market value significantly improved to more than VND1.8 trillion (US$87.4 million), representing a four-fold increase over yesterday.
Trading volume also rocketed to 102.6 million shares.
Blue chips today performed well, with five of the 10 largest capitalised shares climbing between 0.3-2.1 per cent and insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) hitting their ceiling prices, having fallen to the floor yesterday.
Meanwhile, real estate developer Vincom (VIC) bottomed out and Sacombank (STB) lost 0.7 per cent.
STB was the most heavily traded code, with around 5.1 million shares exchanged.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index jumped 2.05 per cent to conclude the day at 68.83 points.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 241-40.
The value of trades increased 43 per cent over yesterday to VND279.4 billion ($13.6 million) on a volume of 29.6 million shares.
The three most active shares on the northern bourse all hit their ceiling prices, including Kim Long Securities Co (KLS) with 3.4 million shares, VNDirect Securities Co (VND) with 2.6 million shares and PetroVietnam Construction Co (PVX) with 2.2 million shares changing hands. – VNS
