Five people were killed Monday in a bus-truck collision on National Highway 1A in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
The bus had just pulled out of a gas station on the highway section in Phu Loc District when a truck traveling at high speed crashed into it.
Five bus passengers died on the spot. Six others were injured, two of them seriously.
Three of the five dead victims have been identified – Nguyen Thi Huyen, a 23-year-old woman from the northern province of Phu Tho, Nguyen Thi Nam, a 20-year-old woman from the northern province of Thanh Hoa and Cao Van Khap, a 22-year-old man from the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.
According to the Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, the truck and bus drivers are among the injured, but not seriously. Both the vehicles were badly damaged.
